Tim & the Glory Boys and Tyler Shaw are the headliners for Whitecourt’s Party in Park for 2022.
Whitecourt Mayor Tom Pickard and Whitecourt Arts and Culture Coordinator Andrew Malmquist paid a visit to the XM 105 FM studios on April 7, 2022 to make the announcement.
Pickard says that the Town is pumped to have the event back. Whitecourt has not been able to hold its annual summer festival since 2019. The event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions.
“It has been two long years, and that is too long,” shared Pickard. “We need to get back together and have a party, and Party in the Park is what our administration has put together. We got some fantastic acts, and we are really looking forward to that weekend.”
Party in the Park runs June 17 and 18, 2022.
Tim & the Glory Boys headline on June 17, which Pickard promises is the country day. Tim & the Glory Boys are two-time JUNO award winners and were nominees at the 2021 Canadian Country Music Association Awards for Group of the Year and Rising Star.
Tyler Shaw headlines on June 18, which will be the pop day. Tyler Shaw is a mainstay in Canadian pop music, with hits such as Kiss Goodnight, With You, and To the Man Who Let Her Go.
Pickard points out that Tyler Shaw was slated to play at one of the canceled Parties in the Park, and Tyler Shaw is sticking to his original contract.
In addition to the music, Malmquist promises the usual array of children’s activities, and that the event is still free.
“Party in the Park has been a staple of the Town of Whitecourt since 2007,” explains Malmquist.
Pickard also extends his thanks to Woodlands County for continuing to be a partner in the event.
“I think it will be a fantastic free event for our entire community. Woodlands and Whitecourt are so proud to be putting it on.”
