Alberta Pride Artist: Samantha King

King has been songwriting and taking the stage since she was 13. At that age, she became Country Vocal Spotlights’ winner at the 1998 Canadian Finals Rodeo.

Now her accomplishments include a Juno Award Nomination, a Canadian Country Music Association nomination for Female Artist of the Year and the only Canadian winner of the Grand Prize in session one of the 2006 John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

She’s performed on festival main stages with Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Jann Arden, Sawyer Brown, The Oak Ridge Boys, Joe Nichols, Doc Walker, Charlie Major and many more.

Recently, she has won the 2018 Edmonton Blues Society’s Memphis Bound Blues Challenge along with Jimmy Guiboche, Marc Beaudin & Sandro Dominelli. In 2019, the group headed to Memphis, Tennessee to compete in the 35th International Blues Challenge among over 200 acts.
