Rain or shine, runners are going to be taking to the streets of Edson this Saturday.
June 18, 2022 marks the 13th annual Eddie’s Big Run. This is the first time Edson’s major running event has been held since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Krystal Hawbolt, chair for the Eddie’s Big Run Committee, says that the runners are excited to be back.
“We are up to over 250 registrants now, and they are just eager to get out there and get on the trails, and we are hoping that the weather turns because it might be a little bit rainy that day,” Hawbolt tells us.
The races that are set to go are a 10km, a 5km, a 3km, and a Kids Fun Run.
Eddie the Squirrel himself takes part in the fun run.
“He will lead off the kids fun run, so that is always exciting,” says Hawbolt. “Eddie leads everybody in some stretches before the race.”
The races start and end at the Edson and District Leisure Centre. After the races, participants are invited to enjoy a pancake breakfast. The Leisure Centre will also have a kids zone with some inflatables and sparkle tattoos.
Eddie’s Big Run takes place on June 18, 2022, at the Edson and District Leisure Centre. The first race goes at 9 a.m. You can find more information on the Town of Edson website.
